Boasting 10 times the Scoville heat of cayenne pepper, this is the spiciest chili in all of Japan. Gion Miyuki is dedicated to sourcing these precious golden chilies from domestic Japanese farms. In the Edo period, Japan cultivated as many as 52 chili varieties, but as cheaper imported chilies flooded the market, much of Japan's chili agriculture declined. Now, most commercially available chilies are imported.
